The Rose Garden at MCC is a place of beauty and peace. The garden's flowers are always in bloom, even when the weather isn't cooperating. Visitors can walk around the trails or sit down on one of the benches to take it all in for themselves. It's a great spot for anyone who needs a little downtime to rejuvenate their mind, body, and soul!
Designed by landscape architect LeRoy Brady, The Mesa garden is home to 8,000 desert roses-- the largest collection in the world. The flowers are iconic for their beauty and resilience to drought conditions; this has made them a symbol of love worldwide as well as being an important part of many cultures' art and architecture.
A Stunning Sight to Behold
The garden's flowers are beautifully arranged into rows that stretch across the walkways, and if you look closely enough you can see all sorts of bright colors on your way through. It's hard not to feel happy when you're surrounded by the reds, oranges, yellows, and whites that make up this garden. With over 5,000 rose bushes planted in just one acre of land, it has become known as the largest public rose garden in the world! With more than 30 different varieties of roses and 600 different colors on display at any given time throughout each season.
When is the best season to bloom?
The roses are at their peak from mid-March through the end of May, and occasionally into the middle of June. Visitors will be greeted by large blossoms and wonderful scents. The next best season is fall, and the flowers are at their peak during this time. The roses bloom from July through September but they will not last long on the stem due to extreme heat waves that occur in these months.

A Portal into the Past
Garden volunteers are always ready to share their favorite stories of the roses and plants they've tended or have loved. Visitors who come by can't help but be mesmerized about how much love has gone into each plant, color brightening up every corner with blooms waiting for people's touch.
People might never know that there is a story behind each flower in this garden without asking one simple question- what's your favorite? The volunteer will then eagerly tell you all about it as if telling an old friend instead of someone new entirely.

This is more than just an exhibition; it's like traveling through gardens from all over the world, with hundreds of species and varieties on display right in your backyard! They offer tours that are perfect for your needs:
Self-guided tours are one way to enjoy your visit to the Garden. Throughout every rose bed, you can find signs with phone numbers printed on them, and when ringing these numbers up they provide information on what is there for display. Signs also exist within each of those beds that explain all about roses themselves - from their origins to the flavors they make as tea! And best yet: The garden remains open 24/7 so feel free to stop by anytime day or night!
Guided tours are the best way to explore and enjoy your visit to The Garden. Our knowledgeable tour guides love showing off their amazing work, which takes about an hour on a one-way loop around our grounds. Be sure you have sun protection (sunscreen and hat) with water in tow!
