Regenerative Injection Aftercare Instructions
After you have had a regenerative treatment completed for pain relief it is very important to follow regenerative injection aftercare instructions for maximal benefit and best healing practices.
FIRST WEEK AFTER TREATMENT
AVOID
- Ice applications, pain-relievers such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), aspirin, celecoxib(Celebrex), diclofenac (Cambia, Cataflam, Voltaren-XR, Zipsor, Zorvolex), diflunisal, etodolac, indomethacin (Indocin), ketoprofen (Active-Ketoprofen), ketorolac, nabumetone, oxaprozin (Daypro), piroxicam (Feldene), salsalate, sulindac, tolmetin, and fish oils.
- These are all anti-inflammatory and will interfere with your treatment.
- Moderate to intense exercise. Your ligaments and tendons will not be as strong as they are normally while they are healing. Heavy exercise increases risk of injury.
- Avoid submerging in water (swimming, bathing, hot tubs) for 48 hours following injections. Showers are okay after 24 hours.
OPTIONAL
- If aching is intolerable, you may take acetaminophen (Tylenol Extra Strength, 500mg capsules take 2 capsules every 6 hours while symptoms last, do not take more than 6 capsules in 24hours)
ENCOURAGED
- Light to moderate exercise. Moving the area where the stem cell therapy injection was done increases blood flow and immune activity while preventing stiffness. We encourage this to increase efficacy of the treatment.
REMAINDER OF DURATION BETWEEN VISIT
- Staying mobile: Exercise is very important. Be sure to use proper form when doing exercise to prevent injury. Also make sure to stretch properly before and after exercise.
- You can resume taking fish oils after the initial inflammatory stage (5 days after treatment) if they are part of your supplement regimen
