The Perry Branch Library in Gilbert opened in June 2007 and is located on the grounds of Perry High School in the Chandler Unified School District. Constructed by the Chandler Unified School District and the Town of Gilbert, this joint-use facility is operated as a branch of the Maricopa County Library District. It is situated on the corner of 156th Street and Queen Creek Road in the southwest. The entrance to the branch library is on 156th Street.
This is a library for high schools that also acts as a library for Maricopa County. It is accessible, spacious and well structured. As well as computer terminals for younger children, there are many computer terminals for individuals to use (these are mounted on tables that are lowered for their height.
This library is very nice, quiet (as any library should be), plenty of parking outside. The workers and security guards in the library are all very nice and polite. There are 4 checkout stations and 1 check in, which is enough so it doesn't take long for this to happen.
Any other benefits are that you can change stuff online. As long as no one else is requesting the item, the media may be renewed up to 5 times (or 5 weeks for DVDs).
This is a great library, and while we normally go to the Chandler Library downtown, this library is far closer to where we live.
Outside the library, the drop box helps you to drop books and media into a safe box that is very simple to use. They have a book slot and a media slot.
You can check your things back inside the library, without waiting for anyone else to do this. They have an automated device where you put your library item on a conveyor belt, it detects your book or media somehow, and then it indicates that it was checked back in on the screen and then it goes back into circulation on the conveyor belt.
And the book check-out system has become super fast. Your library card can be used or your number can be memorized. Like all books together (stacked on top of each other), you can put all your things in a box of the same kind and the electronic device can detect all the books and search them out at the same time. And, if you have a pile of DVDs, instead of scanning each object individually, you can do it all at once.
