Legacy Traditional School

Legacy Traditional School is a FREE, K-8 public charter school in Gilbert, AZ. They are committed to helping each of their students win—in and out of the classroom. They  have designed their traditional back-to-basic curriculum to help develop all the important characteristics that make successful, well-rounded children from kindergarten to 8th grade. From Saxon Math classes to their performing arts programs to high school preparation courses, Legacy Traditional School is proud to serve their local community and help build a bright future.

Mission

Our mission is to provide motivated students with the opportunity to achieve academic excellence in an accelerated, back-to-basics, safe learning environment taught by caring, knowledgeable, and highly effective educators in cooperation with supportive, involved parents.

History

Legacy Traditional Schools believes that there is no limit to what a student can achieve with a high level of education and a strong character. Their non-profit school-free network, A-rated public schools, was founded on this principle and underlies their mission to build lifelong learners and good citizens. Each Legacy Traditional School has a rigorous, well-rounded curriculum that emphasizes all areas of academic study, including the arts, physical education and extensive athletics and extracurricular activities. Over 18,000 students attend 16 campuses in Arizona (Greater Phoenix, Northwest Tucson, Maricopa and Casa Grande) and Nevada (North Las Vegas and Henderson). Our new campus in Southwest Las Vegas (Enterprise) will open for the academic year 2019/20.

Programs

Saxon Math

They use the Saxon Math curriculum for our K-8 classes. Saxon Math has been delivering proven results for students for over 30 years. The curriculum uses an incremental structure which distributes content throughout the year. This integrated and interconnected approach ensures deep, long-term content mastery and prepares students for continued success.

Spalding Language Arts

They use the Spalding Language Arts curriculum at Legacy. This is a time-tested program and educational philosophy that focuses on writing, writing, reading, and even handwriting. The Spalding Method incorporates a combination of explicit, interactive and diagnostic instruction to the entire group, followed by interventions and enhancements in small groups as needed.

Momentum Fitness Program

Their students have the opportunity to build foundations for health, athletics and trust from an early age. The Momentum Fitness Program is a comprehensive physical education curriculum that has been developed to enhance all aspects of a student's healthy living. Your child will take part in 30-50 minutes of age-appropriate physical exercise four days a week, much more than most other schools.

Mozart Performing Arts

Music is one of the best ways for children to express themselves, and provides a means of learning that simply does not exist in other disciplines. Their Mozart Performing Arts Program encourages students to expand their passion for music and performance with activities such as their piano lab, performance groups, music theory, and more.

Standards of Citizenship

Their Citizenship Standards curriculum is designed to help students develop a love for the United States of America and the communities in which they live. The lessons explore the responsibilities and privileges that come with being a U.S. citizen, as well as important lessons about kindness and care.
