Did you know that male aging is a real phenomenon? It's called andropause, and it's something that a lot of men experience as they get older. In this article, we will discuss 5 fast facts about andropause. We will also talk about what this condition is, how to recognize it, and what treatment options are available.

Andropause is the male equivalent of menopause. Like women, testosterone levels in men begin to decrease as they age – typically beginning around 30 years old. This can happen gradually or suddenly and can have a major impact on many aspects of daily life for some men.

Although andropause isn’t discussed as often as female-related medical conditions, it’s still important to be aware of this condition so you know what to expect while going through the aging process. Here are the 5 fast facts about andropause you may not know:

Fast Fact # 1: Andropause is a male version of Menopause, which affects women’s bodies.

Both conditions are caused by the decrease of sex hormones in both men and women. When a woman undergoes menopause, there is a noticeable drop in Estrogen levels while when a man suffers from Andropause or male menopause, his Testosterone level drops significantly.

Fast Fact # 2: Testosterone can help you avoid heart disease.

According to a 2014 study, men who boosted their testosterone levels through hormone replacement treatment had a 55 percent decreased chance of heart attack and stroke. This was also the case for individuals who had heart disease before they began working out.

However, that does not imply you should visit a testosterone shot clinic immediately. Men with higher than normal levels of testosterone are at risk for heart attack or stroke. Instead, you should have your blood tested by a physician and discuss treatment options that consider your overall lifestyle, including diet, exercise, and sleep habits.

Fast Fact # 3. Andropause is a condition that is linked with a reduction in the male hormone testosterone.

Testosterone treatment is a commitment that lasts a lifetime. When your testosterone levels fall, your body is unable to restore them naturally. This is why you need to seek a medical expert who you can trust with a therapy that is customized to your needs as a whole.

There are two choices when it comes to hormone treatment: synthetic hormones or bioidentical hormones. Synthetic hormones are chemically modified hormones, which raises the danger of adverse effects and negative effects. Most males can't tolerate the adverse effects for a long time.

Bioidentical hormones, on the other hand, are natural because they are derived from plants or animals. Your body recognizes and utilizes these hormones in the same way that it would if they were produced naturally.

Fast Fact # 4. Testosterone helps weight loss and muscle growth.

Testosterone, which is naturally produced in men's bodies, aids in the development of muscle mass. When testosterone levels are low, estrogen effects step in, causing fat to accumulate in the least attractive places, such as your chest and belly.

You're more likely to get type 2 diabetes as your weight rises, and men with diabetes are twice as likely to have lower testosterone levels than men without diabetes. Testosterone has an insulin-sensitizing effect. In other words, it improves the ability of insulin to enter your cells.

Fast Fact # 5: Andropause does not have any specific symptoms.

Andropause is a gradual process. The main difference between the two is that while menopause has a specific timeframe and age at which it occurs (usually in the 40s), andropause can occur as early as 30 years old or later than 60. It also follows different patterns in each man’s life.  That being said, symptoms of andropause tend to vary from one man to another depending on their levels of testosterone and other hormones. Symptoms may include changes in sexual function and desire, a decrease in muscle mass and strength, changes in body composition (more fat and less muscle), fatigue, mood swings, and hot flashes. However, as mentioned earlier, many men do not experience any symptoms at all.

Causes of Andropause

Low testosterone levels are linked to andropause in men. However, as men become older, their bodies produce less testosterone, and their levels of a hormone called sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), which takes useable testosterone from the blood, rise. SHBG binds to part of the testosterone that is circulating in the bloodstream. Bioavailable testosterone is testosterone that is not linked to the SHBG hormone and is thus available for usage by the body.

  • Reduce symptoms of andropause
  • Support natural testosterone levels
  • Get the benefits of being healthy again

Men who are experiencing andropause symptoms have reduced levels of bioavailable testosterone in their blood. As a result, regions in the body that are activated by testosterone receive less of it, potentially leading to physical and mental changes such as mood swings or weariness.

  • Normalizes testosterone levels through a natural approach
  • Promotes healthy aging

Andropause Treatment

The good news is that Andropause can be treated. There are treatments available to help increase testosterone levels and improve the quality of life for men who suffer from this condition. Treatment options include testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise, medication, and supplements. However, it is best to consult with a doctor before starting any treatment program.
